Rhydian's debut performance at the RAH, singing Myfanwy and Land of My Fathers
Thanks to Geoff for the photos

Now the star of the show - what can you say? I thought the first few notes of
Myfanwy showed a touch of tension [not surprising] but only for a fraction of
time, he sang this with such depth, then the Anthem, the best ever performance
of it, even going above my favourite til now, at the grand slam. he sung it with
pride, conviction and such joy. It showed to those uninitiated what we all know
- that his is not a star, but a superstar, as they introduced him, going right
to the top, where he belongs.

Yesterday evening was truly magical with Rhydian's
performance being the icing on the cake. I felt so thrilled to see him standing
on that stage immaculate as usual and looking out over tier upon tier of people
all listening in rapt silence to his fabulous performances.
It must have
been a very scary but at the same time an amazing and fulfilling experience for
him. Myfanwy was exquisite and very moving but Land of my Fathers was so rich
and full in its execution that the whole building seemed full of light and sound
reverberating around again and again.
It was so lovely to see so many
members dotted around the seating area from our vantage point in the raised
stalls. Everyone looked so nice and so happy and excited. I think last night
must have been so special for Rhydian and something he will remember for a long
time.
I feel so proud to be a supporter of such a talented young artist.

Rhydian though. WOW! He started with Myfanwy. Sang the first few lines (or
perhaps whole verse) just his voice, no instruments behind him, and his voice
just filled the hall. It was amazing. He was then joined by the choir. It was so
beautiful. I thought I could sense some amazement from people who had perhaps
not heard him before, but I might have just been imagining things...perhaps they
all already knew and loved him!!!! I was really looking forward to Myfanwy and
it was incredible, but actually for me, the piece that made the night was when
he sang Land of my Fathers. I must admit this isn't really one of my faves from
the album, but hearing it sung in this venue with a live orchestra and
everything it was out of this world. Imagine how loud it gets at the end,
echoing round the albert hall, and I just can't do it justice. Phenomenal!
JLW got a good very long applause after his cello concerto. But
Rhydian's applause far outshone it! He got whistling and cheering, and the bloke
next to us (who was a middle aged chap, and seemingly not dragged along by his
wife) was stamping his feet and clearly very appreciative of Rhydian, and he
wanted more! The atmosphere was amazing and it was clear that actually that was
the performance that made the whole evening.
