Another fantastic evening spent with Rhydian. He was amazing and really on top form tonight (I say that all the time though) but he really was brilliant tonight. The Brangwyn Hall was sold out and clearly most people were there to see Rhydian. The evening opened with a few songs from Morriston Orpheus Male Voice Choir, mainly Welsh ones as it was St David's day and then the orchestra began to play Suo Gan, a lovely quiet lullaby...........and to everyones amusement, from backstage Rhydian could clearly be heard warming up his voice!! The acoustics in the gents toilets sounded pretty good. The conductor had to stop and one of the orchestra went to tell Rhydian to practice a little quieter. It really was a funny moment. Anyway, we were treated tonight to O Fortuna to open, then a song from Les Mis (There out in the darkness.....not sure of the title), Pan Fyddo'r Nos yn Hir , Myfanwy, Bui Doi, ..........then he changed his suit and Benedictus, and three songs from Carousel, If I love you, My boy from Carousel and You'll never walk alone. It was a standing ovation after My boy and it was very clear from the people around us that they had thoroughly enjoyed the evening. A man behind me asked if we were Rhydian's fan club and where would he be performing next as he would go and see him again.
Fantastic meeting everyone tonight, it was a lovely atmosphere and the evening flew by. Can't wait for the next one. |
